Interview ~ Dannie Bulman

A quick chat with the 'Crazy Man' of Wycombe, Dannie Bulman.

WWISC: Dannie, your Wycombe career started a little strangely didn't it, coming on as a sub and scoring with your backside? But recently your career has gone from strength to strength.

Dannie: I feel lately I've been a bit inconsistent, which is something I've got to work on and really need to change. But I feel its getting better.

WWISC: Are you enjoying your game at the moment?

Dannie: I enjoy it more when we win obviously. As a professional I really don't like it when we lose and it gets on top of me when we don't win.

WWISC: The fact that it hurts you when we lose shows that you care as it hurts the supporters and we don't want players here again who don't care whether we win or lose, so long as they get paid every month.

Dannie: As I said it gets on top of me when we don't win.

WWISC: How are you enjoying playing for Wycombe Wanderers?

Dannie: I've been here for four years now and this is my second 'proper' season and I'm just hoping I can get that consistency to my game that'll keep me in the first team.

WWISC: Tell me a bit about yourself in your early career, where you were and what you were doing?

Dannie: I was down at Ashford getting paid a couple of quid a week to play there. I was brought here, went through a bit of a mad period, scored off my bum and really spent time trying to adapt.

WWISC: Which of the Wycombe Wanderers managers was it who brought you here?

Dannie: It was Neil Smillie who signed me. John Gregory had been down to watch me and was going to speak to my manager but then he left and went to Aston Villa. But it was Neil Smillie who then came down, had a look and signed me.

WWISC: How much of a change did you find it coming to Wycombe?

Dannie: The biggest change was not having to get up and go to work. Not that this isn't work but it’s different to a regular Nine-to-Five job.

WWISC: So what are your ambitions?

Dannie: At the moment just to play consistently well for Wycombe Wanderers and if that helps us get up to Division One then that'll do at the moment.

WWISC: There was a rumour last season that Tranmere were looking at you.

Dannie: I haven't heard anything and I don't know anything about it.

WWISC: Mind you they're in the same division as us anyway, so it wouldn't have been much of an improvement would it!

Dannie: Exactly, and moves are a long way away for me. I'm a London boy and I like it down here. I'm enjoying my football at Wycombe Wanderers at the moment, they tell me I've got a good hard shot and I've got six goals so far this season. With a bit of luck I'll get that up to ten before the end of the season.

WWISC: There's a story going around that you're the craziest player at Wycombe Wanderers?

Dannie: No, no this is all a myth. I'm a bit crazy and I have a strange sense of humour so perhaps you could say that. I like to have a laugh.

WWISC's Notes:
Dannie was just on his way out when I grabbed him so I didn't want to delay him anymore from getting away so I'll grab him next season and do a much fuller interview then. I have to thank Dannie for stepping in after Jim Gardener decided he really didn't want to be interviewed.
